Polynucleotide Treatments

Polynucleotide treatments are hot news in skin care and aesthetics and we are thrilled to bring them to the Cheltenham Skin & Facials clinic!

What are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are chains of nucleotides, which are essentially the building blocks that make up DNA. DNA is responsible for a huge host of bodily functions, including how skin develops. When we treat with polynucleotides, they help damaged DNA cells in the skin to repair, which results in the cells functioning better. This treatment stimulates fibroblast cells, which help form connective tissues like collagen and elastin – essential proteins that provide the skin with shape, volume and a youthful appearance.

These clever polynucleotide chains can also:

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Stabilise pigmentation
  • Improve the extracellular matrix of skin cells, boosting hydration.
  • Plus, they have anti-free radical action, helping to counteract and protect from factors like sun exposure and stress.
  • Essentially, they are a type of regenerative treatment, changing how DNA in your skin is expressed and encouraging the body’s natural mechanics to generate healthier skin cells. By encouraging cell growth, cell turnover, improving elasticity, hydrating the skin and offer anti-inflammatory properties, this universal treatment can help address multiple skin concerns:
  • Dry, dehydrated skin
  • Dark circles
  • Rosacea
  • Acne scarring
  • Hyper pigmentation
  • Wrinkles, lines and sunken skin due to the aging process

Treatment Areas

This innovative, new treatment offers a host of possibilities across the body. Common treatments are focused around the upper, mid and lower face, including under eye area, but treatments can also be used in areas such as:

  • neck
  • thighs
  • hair
  • eyebrows
  • beard
  • lips
  • décolletage (upper chest area)
  • inner arms.

How do polynucleotides differ from other treatments?

Polynucleotides work to a deeper cellular level to repair the DNA of skin cells and encourage natural production of elastin and collagen. This makes the treatment different from other established treatments, such as profhilo. The results of polynucleotides can take longer to show than other treatments, but this couple with increased longevity.

Side effects are minimal. Some people may experience mild bruising, small bumps or swelling at the injection site, but this is temporary and usually resolves shortly after the treatment. The treatment itself is less than 30 minutes (plus numbing time).

Best results are seen 3 months after the course of treatments, once collagen production as optimised. Single maintenance treatments are recommended every 3-5 months.

A course of 3 treatments is advised, spaced 2-4 weeks apart for optimum results. Polynucleotides give significant results as a standalone, but when combined with treatments such as tixel and/or skin boosters, the results are really amplified, giving next level skin rejuvenation results.
A consultation is required to discuss the best treatment plan for you.
